Each year, classes at Valley Catholic School, Jesuit High School and Edison High School choose consumer families in our prevention programs to ensure they have a happy holiday season. This year Jesuit is able to support 85 families, Valley 32 families, and Edison—the smallest of the schools—seven families.
Our Prevention teams share gift ideas, and the students do fund, food and toy drives to collect needed gifts. In addition, they hold a huge food drive that extends beyond this effort. Normally, they are able to collect 1000 food boxes for those in need.
On December 16, Jesuit High School and Edison High School delivered their gifts of food and presents to our client families. The next day, Valley Catholic’s students and volunteers staged their donations on campus, and our staff collected and delivered them.
“We’ve been working with the schools for decades,” says Prevention Senior Program Director Marylee Stahl. “I actually attended Valley when it was still called St. Mary’s and our former Development Director Mike Schwab is now president at Edison so our relationships run deep.”
